Local elections: results from 148 Sardinian municipalities

10:50 PM – Tempio Pausania will be the only municipality in Sardinia to go to a runoff. With the count now winding down (and made clear by the forecast of split voting), a second round is looming between incumbent mayor Gianni Addis and his challenger Gianna Masu.

9:43 PM – Michele Cossa is the new mayor of Sestu
9.36pm – In Sestu, 19 out of 21 sections have been counted: Cossa at 53.88%, Mura at 37.65%, Manca at 4.76%, Loi at 3.71%,
8:49 PM – In Posada, outgoing mayor Salvatore Ruiu is re-elected, with 788 votes, ahead of Luigi Contu by 200 and Gianfranco Burrai by 300. In Torpè, the new mayor is Gianni Pilosu, who, after a long head-to-head race, bests Marco Zirottu, Fabrizio Ladu in third, and Alessandro Mulas, who placed fourth. ( Fabrizio Ungredda )
8:45 PM – Sestu continues with the counting. With 15 of 21 districts: Cossa 53.16%, Mura 38.79%, Loi 3.79%, Manca 4.26%.
8:10 PM – Stefano Anni will continue as mayor of Nuraminis. The 49-year-old agricultural entrepreneur, outgoing mayor, rejects Federica Pinna's challenge and re-elected as mayor for the next legislative term (2026-2031).
7:46 PM – In Tempio, after the ballots have been counted in six of the fifteen constituencies, incumbent mayor Gianni Addis is in the lead, with nearly 40% of the vote. Andrea Biancareddu and Gianna Masu are vying for second place, and therefore a chance to advance to the runoff.
7:43 PM – In Sestu , the runoff vote is being contested. With 13 of 21 precincts counted , Cossa has 52.56%, Mura 38.98%, Loi 3.95%, and Manca 4.51%. In Tempio, after the ballots have been counted in six of the fifteen precincts, incumbent mayor Gianni Addis is in the lead, with nearly 40% of the vote. Andrea Biancareddu and Gianna Masu are vying for second place, and therefore a chance to advance to the runoff.
7:41 PM – Sanluri, Alberto Urpi elected mayor for the third time: his first words after his victory in the 2026 local elections.
7:39 PM – Laconi once again entrusts his future to outgoing mayor Salvatore Argiolas.
7:35 PM – By late afternoon, with just over a third of the polling stations counting, the winner in Sardinia's third-largest city is already assured, with more than 60% of the vote: Graziano Milia is once again mayor of Quartu.
This is his fourth term: the first from 1993 to 1997, the second from 1997 to 2001, the third from 2020 to 2026. In between, he served as president of the province of Cagliari and as director of the Fondazione di Sardegna (since 2014).
7:23 PM – In Ogliastra, Gairo has entrusted Sergio Lorrai with his second term. Gianfranco Lecca also wins a second term in Loceri.
7:19 PM - In Masullas, the challenge between the two candidates at the starting line goes to Ennio Vacca, outgoing mayor who was re-elected for a second term.
7:16 PM – The electorate has confirmed Fabio Lai as mayor of La Maddalena by a wide margin. He clearly prevailed over the other candidate and sole contender for mayor, Stefano Cossu.
7:15 PM – In Onifai, outgoing mayor Luca Monne was re-elected with over 70 percent of the vote. He received 384 votes compared to 116 for his challenger Tanino Costa.
7:12 PM – Guamaggiore turns the page and chooses Ignazio Masala for the next five years. The "Together for the Future" candidate, in his first political stint, won the municipal elections, beating Nicola Caria, the outgoing deputy mayor and a figurehead for continuity in the administration led in recent years by Nello Cappai.
7:04 PM – Settimo San Pietro chooses continuity: Gigi Puddu is once again mayor.
7:01 PM – With more than double the votes of his challenger, Alberto Urpi, 48, a senior Abbanoa executive on leave, is warming up for his third term as mayor of Sanluri. The vote count is highly partial, but the provisional data does not suggest any major upheavals in the Sanluri administration. ( Luigi Almiento )
6:59 PM – Pietro Peru is the new mayor of Aggius, winning by approximately 200 votes. In Viddalba , Giovanni Andrea Oggiano was confirmed, defeating Maurizio Satta's other list by a margin of five votes. ( Andrea Busia )
6:57 PM – In Dolianova, incumbent mayor Ivan Piras is confirmed, receiving 76.5% of the vote. His challenger , Emanuele Cabboi of the Progressive Camp, is down to 23.5%.
6:56 PM – Burcei makes a change and relies on Marcello Malloru.
6:50 PM – "We clearly haven't been able to explain our proposal for the city. We will do so during these five years in opposition on the Council. We will remain within the center-right and strive to appeal to other civic groups as well." This is how center-right candidate Marco Porcu , in Quartu , commented on the election results that confirmed Graziano Milia as mayor.
6:41 PM – "When people don't know what to choose, they prefer a safe, used car." With these words, Antonello Figus comments on his victory: he is the new mayor of Santa Giusta.
6:39 PM – In Maracalagonis, the outgoing mayor Francesca Fadda is close to being re-elected. She ran on the "Vivere Maracalagonis" list, with a clear advantage over the candidate on the "Maracalagonis Guarda al futuro" list.
6:30 PM – In Dolianova, outgoing mayor Ivan Piras is winning by a landslide, with 76% of the vote now more than halfway through the count, while Emanuele Cabboi of the Progressive Camp is at 24%.
6:29 PM – Guspini has decided to make a change. Marco Pala, with the Alliance for the Guspinese Left list, succeeds Giuseppe De Fanti as mayor.
6:24 PM – The gap between center-left candidate Massimo Mulas and Polo Civico Identitario candidate Sara Dettori for the Municipality of Porto Torres is widening in Porto Torres . Out of 24 constituencies, the latest update shows 63.4% (1,913 votes) for the outgoing mayor, versus 26.8% (810 votes) for Dettori, followed by Ivan Cermelli with 7.8% (241 votes) and Loredana De Marco with 2.1% (65 votes). 6.22pm – In Sestu , with the count still underway , Michele Cossa is over 51%, while his challenger Michela Mura is hovering around 39.6%.
6:20 PM – Matteo Manca has been elected mayor for the third time in Norbello .
6:13 PM - Edoardo Di Martino was elected mayor of Ortacesus with 53.1% of the vote (7 seats). His challenger, Maria Carmela Lecca, received 46.9% of the vote (2 seats).
6:11 PM – Gino Franco Ruiu is the new mayor of Lodè, receiving 675 votes, or 68.81 percent, beating outgoing mayor Antonella Canu, who received 31.19 percent. In Ollolai, outgoing deputy mayor Salvatore Zedde wins the duel with challenger Pierpaolo Soro.
6 PM – In Asuni, Oreste Pilade Venerio Ricci, with 127 votes equal to 58.653% of the vote, beat his challenger Alessandro Tetti.
6pm - Nurri is entrusting himself to Roberto Cancedda for the next five years.
5.55pm – Federica Arca , 48, is the new mayor of Birori.
5:50 PM – Giuseppe Vacca conquers the town hall of San Vero Milis.
5:40 PM – Luciano Barone 's contract is confirmed in Mamoiada .
5:38 PM – Luca Orrù is the new mayor of Mogoro .
5:30 PM – Milia is on his way to victory in the first round in Quartu: congratulations are already pouring in from Paolo Truzzu: Fratelli d'Italia was nominating center-right candidate Marco Porcu.
5:25 PM – In Sestu, with just over half of the mayoral ballots counted, Michele Cossa stands at around 51%, while his challenger Michela Mura is around 38%.
5:12 PM - Manuela Pintus elected mayor of Arborea for the third time.
5:05 PM – The figures aren't yet official, but Maria Laura Orrù is celebrating her confirmation as mayor of Elmas.
4:58 PM – Unofficial data from the list representatives give Quartu Graziano Milia the lead over his opponents, with a consensus percentage of around 60%.
4:32 PM – Eugenio Lai confirmed as mayor of Escolca with 340 preferences out of 360 votes.
4:22 PM – The initial results of the counting of votes in the 15 out of 24 polling stations in the Municipality of Porto Torres show outgoing mayor Massimo Mulas, supported by the center-left, well ahead with 65.3 percent (626 votes). Sara Dettori, from the Sardinian Civic Identity Party, is in second place with 25.9 percent (240 votes), while Ivan Cermelli of the center-right has 8.5 percent (97 votes) and Loredana De Marco of the Porto Torres C'è list has 1.8 percent (22 votes). 3:40 PM – The final voter turnout figures are in: 61.64% of eligible voters showed up in the 148 municipalities called to vote, compared to 59.6% in the previous round of voting in the same municipalities. A slight increase, therefore.
3 PM – Polls have closed and the vote count begins in the 148 Sardinian municipalities ready to elect another municipal assembly . Nearly a third of Sardinia's 377 municipalities have already voted, especially since those voting in 2020, the year of Covid, are now added to those voting in 2021.

The most anticipated challenge is in Quartu , but the spotlight is also on Sestu, Sanluri, Tempio and Por To Torres. In towns with more than 15,000 inhabitants, a runoff election is scheduled for June 21st and 22nd if no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote.
Mayoral seats have already been assigned in the 62 small towns where only one candidate ran ( LIST HERE ).
The territorial distribution of the municipalities voting confirms the weight of the inland areas: 37 municipalities in the Oristano area, 27 in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, 27 in the Sassari area, 20 in the Nuoro area, 13 in Gallura, 11 in the Medio Campidano area, 7 in Ogliastra, and 6 in the Sulcis Iglesiente area.
