There are 62 Sardinian municipalities with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants where only one list has been presented for this round of elections. With the quorum required by law having been reached, the first verdicts and the names of the new mayors are beginning to arrive .

The rules applied this year are derived from Legislative Decree No. 196 of December 27, 2025. The provision, valid only for this election, extends an exemption for municipalities with up to 15,000 inhabitants where only one list is present: the election is valid if at least 40% of eligible voters vote and the list receives at least 50% of the valid votes cast. If these thresholds are not met, the election is void and the municipality is placed under special administration.

This is why some of the new mayors can be identified from the first day of voting. Once the minimum turnout threshold is met and consensus for the single list is ascertained, the outcome of the consultation is essentially set.

Among the first municipalities to reach the quorum was Sant'Antonio di Gallura, where Carlo Duilio Viti , candidate of the "Sant'Antonio Cresce" list, became the town's new mayor.

In Bortigiadas , however, reaching the threshold established by law allows the election of Emiliano Deiana , former president of the Anci Sardegna, candidate with the "Radici Vive e Futuro Comune" list.
