A black year . More than ten deaths on the road in Sardinia in just over a month , a hundred and five since the beginning of 2024. A huge number: and it is feared that it could exceed that of 2023 , when the deaths were 110.

After last night's accident, with two other very young people dead, two 17-year-olds , after yesterday's terrible accident on Viale Colombo in Cagliari , with another 17-year-old who died this morning in the Brotzu resuscitation unit, after the death of Antonio Luigi and Gavino Puledda on Friday on the Sassari-Ittiri while returning home, the Island finds itself, unfortunately once again, having to deal with a dramatic toll of blood on the roads, a long trail that has been increasing since 2021. And to question safety measures that sometimes, as in the case of Viale Colombo with the deterrents that had already been loudly requested , arrive too late, or do not arrive at all.

According to data released in October by Aci and Istat , related to the population, Sardinia is the Italian region where in 2023 there was a higher incidence of road mortality : 7 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants.

November will unfortunately be remembered for the great pain of Fonni: first the four very young victims of the tragic accident on Provincial Road 69 , in which Michele Coinu, 21, Lorenzo Figus, 17, Marco Innocenti, 18, and Michele Soddu, 22, lost their lives. The boys died in the car that ended up in a ditch. A few days later, another mourning: another Fonni resident lost his life, 47-year-old Mauro Falconi, who died after going off the road with his motorbike near San Teodoro, where he was looking after the family hotel. On the same day, another victim: the entrepreneur from Oristano Giannino Delogu , known for having created Sanycar, a sanitization system. He was driving his Renault Clio and near a level crossing he lost control of the small car, ending up against a ditch jumper. Then again: Ignazio Casula, 61 years old originally from Quartu, hit by a pick-up truck while crossing the state road 197 , just before the Furtei junction. After the first impact, the man was also hit by two other cars: one of the drivers ran away afterwards. Finally, the tragedy on Friday along the Sassari-Ittiri.
