On the occasion of World Water Day , which is celebrated today, Italy is taking stock of drought . The situation, explains Antonio Sanò, founder of iLMeteo.it, still needs to be monitored, with the water crisis concentrated on the major islands and part of the South.

Based on data from the Drought Observatory of the CNR (National Research Council), Sanò recalls that in Sardinia and Sicily the concern is very high , in particular examining the last 3 months: while the winter just passed gave a lot of water to the North and "replenished" the Alpine glaciers with heavy snowfall, on the larger islands the crisis is just around the corner.

Based on the forecast for the next few days, the "Colomba Cyclone" will bring other types of rainfall.

A lot of rain is expected in Italy from Monday evening until Thursday. Then there will be news to coincide with Easter .

With the start of Holy Week, «we will enter the highlight of the Colomba Cyclone : like all self-respecting cyclones, on Monday 25 March we will experience the "Quiet before the Storm" - explains Sanò - then from Tuesday the bad weather will be unleashed. The sun, in fact, will be dominant with the first signs of disruption only in the evening over Sardinia, Liguria and the western Alps. On Tuesday 26th it will rain all over Italy, on Wednesday especially in the Centre-North. This year the Colomba will initially take us back to winter, but be careful: obviously the Dove of Peace will want to offer good weather for the Easter holidays and, at the moment, Easter and Easter Monday are expected to be characterized by sunny and even warm weather for the period ".
