A large fire broke out this morning in the countryside of Ittiri.

Two Canadair aircraft from Olbia and two light helicopters from the Forestry Corps , one from the Bosa base and the other from Anela, were deployed to support the ground teams. Access by land is difficult due to the lack of secondary roads.

The fire attacked a wooded area with scrub and wooded pastures , between the provincial roads 28 Ittiri-Usini and 15 Ittiri-Uri.

The Ploaghe Forestry Station is coordinating the firefighting operations on site.

After a few hours, the fire front was reduced in size, but a third Canadair also arrived to clear the perimeter. This aircraft freed up a light helicopter for an intervention in the Sagama countryside, where two regional fleet aircraft are working to put out another fire.

The situation was brought back under control in the early afternoon, when all aircraft left the area and the ground crew began clearing the area.
