New doctors, mainly from Argentina and Cuba, are seeking to revitalize departments that have been struggling for years. The Region has launched a comprehensive plan for all Sardinian facilities, and Oristano has stepped up immediately to try not to miss yet another opportunity. The health authority, led by Grazia Cattina, has already requested 80 professionals, including doctors, nurses, and radiology technicians. "This reinforcement would be essential for the three hospitals in Oristano, Bosa, and Ghilarza," the health authority states.

The vast majority of departments are dependent, not only on the high level of professionalism and dedication of its staff, but also on specialists who arrive under contract or on freelance contracts. The departments experiencing the greatest difficulties are the Emergency Room, Radiology, and Medicine at San Martino, and the Local Health Authority's request for expansion points to this issue. "We are primarily looking for oncologists, doctors specialized in emergency and urgency medicine, radiologists, and pulmonologists," the hospital emphasizes. However, Pediatrics and Psychiatry are also struggling. Specifically, 44 doctors have been requested for Oristano, 19 for Bosa, and 17 for Ghilarza: starting next year, they could begin working in the province's healthcare facilities.
