Attention, thoughtfulness, and listening. These are the qualities recognized in Antonio Spanu, the new president of the Sassari Court, today at the Palace of Justice during the inauguration ceremony presided over by Judge Stefania Deiana, flanked by magistrates Susanna Zanda and Massimo Zaniboni. Zaniboni held the position of president for nine years, which the Superior Council of the Judiciary recently assigned to the 64-year-old from Sassari. Spanu, as he himself recalled, has been carrying out "the difficult task of adjudicating cases" in the Sassari court since 1996. Over these 30 years, Spanu has had the opportunity to work with eminent figures in the judicial field.

"I've learned something from everyone," he declared before judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and administrative staff. "The ability to listen, balance, prudence in judgment, dedication, sacrifice, and willingness to work together. I feel indebted to them for the legacy they've built up over the years."

Regarding the Court's activities, he reported, "the statistical results achieved are encouraging." This is particularly true with regard to clearing the backlog, both in civil and criminal cases. "But the objective," the president emphasized, "must be qualitative. To ensure that the measures taken are thoughtful and the result of an adequate study of the documents and appropriate legal solutions."

The conclusion is a thank you to those present for "the support you have always given me and which I hope you will continue to give me."

The outgoing president spoke about Spanu's professional background and his human qualities, qualities confirmed by Gabriele Satta, president of the Sassari Bar Association, and by Deputy Prosecutor Paolo Piras. "We hope he will maintain and expand this dedication," Piras stated, "so that we can feel not just like servants of a machine, but like human beings."
