Uta prison: inmate tries to set fire to the cell

A new emergency at the Uta prison where an inmate attempted to start a fire in his cell.
The officers intervened to seize the lighter and were attacked.
The man, already the protagonist of episodes of violence in the past, set fire to the sheets and several policemen had to intervene to be able to contain the aggression by the prisoner. Three were injured in the arms and face.
The episode was announced by Michele Cireddu, general secretary of the Uil Pa Penitentiary Police of Sardinia: «From the numbers in our possession – he underlines -, this is the 34th attack suffered by our policemen in the Uta prison since 1 January 2023, if this data involved other operators of other police forces, surely there would be the indignation of the institutions and the Sardinian political class, however in the case of the Penitentiary Police it seems almost the price to pay for working in a bankrupt administration and to be refounded from scratch" .
Cireddu, in short, speaks of a "situation out of control and - he concludes - given the premises, it could precipitate definitively".
