The murder trial of Francesco Salis, a 44-year-old bricklayer from Santa Giusta, killed by a shotgun blast by a fellow villager , was opened and immediately adjourned. After just enough time to review some documents, preliminary hearing judge Marco Mascia adjourned the case until September 24th to assign the case to another judge. Therefore, the trial, which will be conducted under an expedited procedure, will only begin in two months. Andrea Giuntoli, a 43-year-old laborer, is charged with voluntary manslaughter and illegal possession of a rifle and a knife .

The preliminary hearing judge mostly completed a few formalities, verifying the filing of the names of the injured parties, a sister and two brothers of the victim, who announced their civil action with lawyers Luciano Rubattu and Fabio Costa. Andrea Giuntoli, a 43-year-old factory worker, is being assisted by lawyers Patrizio Rovelli and Marina Caria. Immediately after these preliminary steps, the trial was adjourned.

The story

The incident dates back to the night between August 10, 2024. According to investigations by the Carabinieri Investigative Unit and the Oristano Company, Salis and Giuntoli began arguing in a downtown bar, and it appears the bricklayer was unhappy with some comments the worker made toward his niece (although the disagreements had apparently been going on for days) . Everyone then left the bar, but it's unclear whether the two men had arranged to meet on Via Dante for a clarification or whether they ended up by chance in the street near the elementary school. According to witnesses, Salis was first holding a stick, then picked up a billhook. There was reportedly a struggle, then, taking up the hunting rifle (which he had in his Alfa Romeo Giuletta), Giuntoli fired a shot at close range from above (as revealed by the autopsy): a single shot that proved fatal for Salis . The worker fled in his car and was shortly thereafter reached at his home by the Carabinieri, who immediately admitted their responsibility.
