The agreement between the Region and the fire brigade for the 2025 summer forest fire prevention campaign has been activated.

Among the signatories, in addition to the councilor for Environmental Protection Rosanna Laconi , the prefect of Cagliari Giuseppe Castaldo , the commander of the Forestry Corps Gianluca Cocco , and the general director of Civil Protection, Mauro Merella .

"The agreement represents a fundamental step in strengthening prevention, land monitoring, and active firefighting," states Councilor Laconi, " ensuring rapid response during a summer season that promises to be highly risky for forest fires. The coordinated and timely action of all forces involved in the AIB Campaign is essential to protecting the population, the environment, and the island's forest heritage." The agreement defines a comprehensive joint operational plan to address forest, rural, and urban-rural interface fires throughout the region, strengthening collaboration and synergy between state and regional agencies.

The Sardinia Region is funding the planned activities with €1.6 million, earmarked for firefighter personnel, vehicles, and equipment. Among the main objectives of the agreement is to strengthen the firefighter's operational teams until August 31st, with the activation of eight seasonal bases in the highest-risk areas: Pula, Castiadas, Arbus, San Teodoro, Orosei, Terralba, Valledoria, and, for the first time, Carloforte.
