He trips, falls and hits his head on the ground . The accident occurred at dawn in Porto Torres , shortly after 6.30 am, when the man, an 80-year-old native of the area, went to the Riu newsstand in Piazza Colombo to buy a newspaper.

As soon as he got out of the car, in the dimly lit area of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in the city centre, due to poor visibility the elderly man did not even see the step on the pavement. He tripped, falling to the ground and hitting his head. In an attempt to avoid the fall, the eighty-year-old also suffered some bruises on his hands.

The newsagent intervened immediately to help him, ready to alarm 118. The man refused the ambulance's intervention but, in any case, had to seek medical treatment for the wounds sustained on his face and hands.

«This part of the city center is completely dark, illuminated only by the lights of the clubs, when they are open – the residents complain – an abandoned area despite being in the heart of the city».
