A petition to the United Nations calling for an immediate end to the bombing of innocent children in Gaza.

This is what the "Lawyers Without Borders" network and the "Robin Hood Justice Movement" are asking for, who speak in their appeal of the "genocide" of the Palestinian people: «Since 7 October, in fact, 4,609 people have been killed in the rubble in Gaza children and over 9,000 injured, out of a total of over 10,022 civilian victims and over 26,000 injured. Women and children represent more than two-thirds of victims. Every ten minutes a child is killed in indiscriminate bombings."

The movement's request to the International Criminal Court is "the indictment of Netanyahu and Hamas for war crimes and crimes against humanity", and the establishment of an international commission of inquiry "independent of governments and opposing factions for ascertain responsibility for the escalation of indiscriminate attacks on the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and, in particular, on hospitals, schools, refugee camps and places of worship".

«How much blood of women and innocents do we still intend to shed to satisfy the thirst for domination, oppression and terrifying mutual revenge unworthy of civilized countries?», explain the “Lawyers Without Borders” network and the “Robin Hood Justice Movement”. «In one week – they continue – Israel used the same number of bombs against Gaza as the USA dropped in Afghanistan in a year. President Joe Biden himself said that it will not be with an indiscriminate massacre of civilians in Gaza that the Israeli people will have justice: "What distinguishes us who live in democratic systems from terrorists is respect for the law, in this case international law ”. Adding, then, that: “The majority of the population, starting with the children, the young people who live in the Strip, should not be confused with Hamas. We cannot be like terrorists."

Words - specify by the "Lawyers Without Borders" network and the "Robin Hood Justice Movement" - " that have fallen on deaf ears , like those of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres , who opened the recent meeting of the Security Council on the crisis in the Middle East he spoke of " clear violations of humanitarian law ", calling for an " immediate " ceasefire to alleviate the "epic suffering" of the population of Gaza. Adding that "Hamas' attacks on Israel did not come out of nowhere", as "the Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation", although "the suffering of the Palestinian people cannot justify Hamas' appalling attacks" ».

The Secretary General of the United Nations «emphasizes that children represent over 40% of the overall victims in Gaza and the real toll is probably much higher – they further explain from the Movement – since there are around 1,000 missing children who are presumed to be buried under the rubble .

And « to understand the drama that is taking place before the eyes of the world, in the indifference of the media and with the active collaboration of Western governments, including the Italian one which abstained from voting on the UN resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire » , some passages are then reported from the speech held on 10/30 before the United Nations General Assembly by Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).

THE SPEECH – «The level of destruction is unprecedented and the human tragedy unfolding before our eyes is unbearable . In three weeks, one million people, half the population of Gaza, were pushed from the north of the Gaza Strip to the south. The south, however, was not spared from the bombing, with a significant number of deaths. I have said many times, “Nowhere is safe in Gaza” . Now, civilians remaining in the north are receiving evacuation notices. But many, including pregnant women, people with disabilities, the sick and injured, cannot move. What has happened and continues to happen is forced displacement." «Over 670,000 displaced people are in overcrowded UNRWA schools and buildings. They live in appalling and unsanitary conditions, with limited food and water, sleeping on the floor without mattresses or in the open. Hunger and desperation are turning into anger against the international community ." « Mr President , almost 70% of those killed are children and women. This cannot be “collateral damage”. Churches, mosques, hospitals and UNRWA facilities, including those hosting displaced people, were not spared. Too many people have been killed and injured while seeking safety in places protected by international humanitarian law. The current siege imposed on Gaza is collective punishment. Gaza has over 2 million people, half of them children. Gazans are vibrant, educated people who aspire to have normal lives, families, children, education and dreams of a better future. Today, Gazans feel they are not treated like other civilians. An entire population is dehumanized. Hannah Arendt said: “The death of human empathy is one of the first and most telling signs of a culture about to descend into barbarism.” Mr President, in these dark times we must not lose sight of our humanity." « Our empathy should apply to everyone. Palestinians, Israelis, Jews, Christians and Muslims. The rules of war must be respected by all sides, at all times and in all places. Civilians must be protected, hostages released and a genuine humanitarian response facilitated." «An immediate humanitarian ceasefire has become a matter of life and death for millions of people. The present and future of Palestinians and Israelis depend on it. I urge all Member States to change the trajectory of this crisis and work towards a real political solution. Before it's too late, thank you."

THE APPEAL – The request, therefore, is to share the appeal of the UN High Representative «relaunching to the whole world the petition to stop the genocide of the Palestinian people and ask for the indictment of all those who would like to completely raze it to the ground Palestine in the next few hours, driving out its inhabitants to Sinai, as was the biblical exodus for the Jewish people, after the escape from Egypt."

Meanwhile, according to a UN report , cited by the English newspaper The Guardian, «there are already over 1.6 million displaced people from Gaza and over 42% of civilian buildings have been destroyed or damaged. An entire population is besieged and under attack, denied access to the essentials for survival, bombed in their homes, shelters, hospitals and places of worship. This is unacceptable ." In the appeal it is underlined that 30 days have passed. " Enough , this has to stop now ."

The UN is also calling for a "war crimes investigation" , stating through the President of the General Assembly Dennis Francis, that " The human toll of the siege of Gaza is indescribable " and insisting that " an immediate ceasefire is needed". ", underlining that this is the request of the majority of members of the General Assembly.

Hence the appeal to sign, before it is too late, "with respect for innocent children and those who can no longer cry out their pain ".
