A changing of the guard at Downing Street: Keir Starmer formally resigned as British Prime Minister to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, while Andy Burnham, proclaimed leader of the ruling Labour Party last Friday, was given the task of forming a new government.

In his final farewell, Starmer acknowledged the work done: "I leave Burnham a better country," he said, adding that the country "will stand by Ukraine."

"Britain must show the world that it can regain its stability: this is the challenge we face," were the first words of the new Prime Minister, who assured that he has "a plan" to improve the country over the next 10 years and to "make those who are struggling feel better."

Burnham, born in 1970, served as Mayor of Greater Manchester, as well as Secretary of State for Health, Secretary of State for Culture and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2007 to 2008, during Gordon Brown's Premiership in the early 2000s.
