The judicial center is no longer a dream . This morning, in the rotunda of the former San Sebastiano prison, where the future facility will be located, discussions were held regarding the next steps to launch the €77 million project—€ 46 million for construction—provided by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

" We will publish the tender in September," explained Gianluca Palla, regional director for Sardinia of the State Property Agency , "as we announced in March when the Sassari City Plan was signed."

The new judicial center will be built on a surface area of almost 22,000 square meters, over 5,000 covered and 8,240 of external areas.

The original core of the facility dates back to the mid-19th century and was revised several times in the 20th century before being decommissioned in 2013 with the establishment of the Bancali prison. The call for proposals involves several phases: the first will select the five best proposals, then develop them until the winning project is announced, which will receive a prize of €1.7 million. This phase will then proceed with the modification, implementation, and integration of the technical and economic feasibility study for final approval. This complex project will house the city's various judicial structures, from the Court of Appeal to the Juvenile Court, resulting in a savings of €1.1 million.

Today's discussion was attended by engineers, architects, university professors, the Superintendency, and the Mayor of the Metropolitan City, Giuseppe Mascia. Mascia himself emphasized the importance of the judicial center and all the steps that will need to be taken, including in terms of traffic flow, to make the facility operational.
