A five-year-old boy, who hadn't yet turned five, died last night in Sestu , around 8:30 PM, after choking on a morsel. The child's name was Lorenzo Corona.

The parents attempted to carry out the clearing maneuvers guided by the 118 operators over the telephone.

When the ambulance arrived, the child was in cardiac arrest . Emergency workers tried to revive him for 40 minutes , but to no avail.

This morning the coroner and the Carabinieri, after the ritual checks carried out at the scene of the tragedy, returned the little boy's body to the family.

The news shocked the entire Sestu community. Lorenzo was in his second year at Collodi Preschool.

"With a heavy heart, we are working to organize a funeral with the children and teachers," said Mayor Paola Secci.
