Learning from what happened at Punta Molentis, and developing a special civil defense plan to respond to emergencies in Tuerredda and other coastal beaches. The day after the terrible fire that devastated the area around one of Villasimius's most beautiful beaches, Teulada is wondering how to protect the coastal beaches in the event of an arson attack like the one that devastated Punta Molentis.

Mayor Angelo Milia explains that, in conditions similar to those of the fire that broke out Sunday on the beach of Villasimius, there are currently no resources available: "With a fire like the one we saw, blown out to sea by strong winds, there's little that can be done. Most of the beaches on our coast, especially Tuerredda, are accessed via a single road, but in reality, it wouldn't make much difference if there were two. The problem is that you still have to cross large areas of Mediterranean scrub, which is completely dry during the summer and therefore highly flammable. To prevent overcrowding on Tuerredda, and consequently reduce the problems of managing the flow of swimmers in the event of a fire, we have introduced a limited number of people, but that can't solve all the problems." Angelo Milia explains how it's necessary to sit down with other institutions to develop a response plan to address emergencies like the one at Punta Molentis : "We need a civil protection plan that takes into account the characteristics of our beaches. What happened in Villasimius is truly worrying, but those terrible scenes must motivate us to be prepared should it happen here too. Firebreaks along the shorelines, an evacuation plan that allows all swimmers to seek shelter immediately: to ensure maximum safety on our beaches, nothing can be left to chance."
