There won't be the pharaonic representation of 1993, when the historic center of Cagliari was transformed into an open-air theater for the re-enactment of the expulsion of the Piedmontese on 28 April 1794. But for the thirtieth anniversary of Sa Die de sa Sardigna the characters return in costume, for a grand style celebration of the so-called “Sardinian Vespers”.

First the junta, then the culture commission of the regional council ( here with some controversy: the news ), approved the program of demonstrations, scheduled between the 28th and 30th, distributed among various centers on the island. The available budget is half a million euros.

«An anniversary», said the president of the Region, Christian Solinas, «which this year, thirty years after its establishment (in 1993) deserves to be fully experienced in its purest spirit, after which in recent years, for due to the pandemic emergency, the usual relevance could not be given ».

For the governor the celebrations "reinterpret the principles of the moral, historical, political and cultural tradition, enhance awareness of the positive values of the memory of the Sardinian people to respond to the challenges, problems and stimuli of contemporary society".

In agreement with the Councilor for Culture, Andrea Biancareddu, 500,000 euros have been allocated for the benefit of the local authorities involved. «The anniversary», Biancareddu underlined, «must be an opportunity through which old and new generations can recognize themselves in their past in order to overcome the new challenges that the island has to face, in its dimension as a hospitable land in solidarity with the peoples bordering the Mediterranean".
