There is a shortage of firefighters and the mayor of Sassari appeals to the national government . Giuseppe Mascia fully supports the request of the territorial representatives of the trade unions: the provincial secretary of Conapo Sassari, Pietro Nurra, the provincial secretary of Fns Cisl Vvf Sassari, Roberta Carnevale, the provincial secretary of Uil Pa Vvf Sassari, Pasquale Vitiello, and the provincial coordinator of Cgil Fp Sassari, Giovanni Matzau. These, in a recent meeting at Palazzo Ducale, highlighted «the serious shortage in operational and specialist roles , such as team leaders, department heads, firefighters, operational managers, additional operational managers, in technical professional roles, such as logistics managers, operational inspectors, management logistics inspectors, IT inspectors, and in the roles of assistants and operators». Shortages already reported and destined to worsen with the upcoming retirements and because of those already occurred.

Mascia emphasizes how the command operates in one of the largest provinces in Italy, with 10 branch offices, including 2 airports, the flight department, the diving unit, the nautical unit and the telecommunications unit.

The mayor's appeal is even more timely after the events of the last few days, from the fires in Santa Maria La Palma and Ozieri to the explosion in via Principessa Maria . "The firefighters are a fundamental garrison for the territory, let's solve the problem."
