A vast marijuana plantation, in Pimentel , with a potential value of ten million euros.

The police of the Samatzai station discovered it, seizing over 2 hectares of three thousand drug hemp plants, with mature inflorescences with a high level of THC.

During a night patrol, the Carabinieri had noticed strange movements of vehicles in a remote location, among the hills of the "Sa Pioi" area, in the arid and uninhabited areas towards the Guasila countryside. The patrol, aboard an off-road vehicle, had climbed a steep hill and glimpsed lights in the darkness.

Thus, an agricultural plateau of over 2 hectares was discovered with a hidden, sunken part, very far from inhabited areas and some sheepfolds. Here they were grown   3002 marijuana plants, with an average height of approximately 1.5 meters each, lined up in 80 rows and perfectly irrigated with a centralized drip system. It could have been a legal cannabis plantation, but in the absence of documents the carabinieri proceeded with sampling of the substance, carried out by the Operational Unit of the Sanluri Company. The samples were then analyzed in the laboratory by the RIS of Cagliari, where the presence of the active ingredient THC - tetrahydrocannabinol of 5% emerged, significantly higher than the values allowed (0.6%) by current legislation for legal crops.

In a rural house not far away, products, fertilizers, sprinklers and various cultivation equipment were also found. All the material and the plantation were seized and made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Cagliari. This is the second major seizure of marijuana plantations by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Cagliari after the one that occurred in Arborea just a few weeks ago.

The operation to combat drug trafficking was carried out with the collaboration of the NORM of the Sanluri Company and other stations in the area, together with specialized personnel from the RIS CC Cagliari (chemical section) and under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cagliari.
