"The mega photovoltaic park in Sant'Elia will not be built." The Region has not given up. And, perhaps spurred on by the demonstrations and protests of recent days, it has put matters right, contradicting the Ministry of Defense, which had prepared a specific tender for one of the city's most picturesque areas. The 37 hectares on the hill of Sant'Ignazio, recently included in the tender by Difesa Servizi Spa for the construction of a massive photovoltaic energy generation project, will instead become the property of the Region.
The process
The Regional Department of Urban Planning is preparing the necessary documents for the land registry subdivision. This work will be completed within the next six months. Once completed, the property can be registered with the regional administration.
The President
"The Colle di Sant'Ignazio will not be sold off or sacrificed to external interests," says Alessandra Todde. "For too many years, regional governments have failed to finalize the transfer of these areas, despite the program agreement signed seventeen years ago. This inaction has paved the way for decisions imposed from above, such as the tender published on June 5th by Difesa Servizi. A project that would have irreparably compromised an area of the highest environmental and social value."
"This means one thing clearly," Todde states: "The mega photovoltaic plant will not be built and the Colle di Sant'Ignazio will be returned to the Sardinians, as stipulated in Article 14 of our Statute."
