«The merger by incorporation of the Olbia airport with that of Alghero is a decision taken unilaterally by the investment fund, F2i, which holds the majority shareholding of Geasar and Sogeaal, and it is a decision that does not register the sharing of the Region».

These are the words pronounced by the regional councilor for Transport, Antonio Moro, before entering the hearing in the Transport commission, meeting to take stock of the merger of the airports of Northern Sardinia, on the related industrial plan, on planned investments, on the protection of workers , on the projection of the operation and on the development program.

«Beyond the perplexities regarding the form and substance of the operation», explained Moro anticipating the content of his report, «I would like to point out that handing over the access keys to Sardinia, i.e. the Sardinian airports, to a private fund of investment whose mission is to maximize profits to remunerate the capital of its investors, both in clear contradiction and in antithesis with the aims pursued by the Region, aimed at guaranteeing Sardinians the full enjoyment of the right to mobility, as well as the maximization of passenger traffic at the airports of Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero, to guarantee development and growth for our island».

In the crosshairs of the fund controlled by Cassa depositi e prestiti there is also the Elmas scaldo now managed by Sogaer. The commissioner specifies that the path undertaken «is not the will of the Region. I was able to read in the explanatory note to the financial statements - adds the councilor - that the administrators of Sogaer have already approved the opening of a discussion table with F2i, defined as an "unfungible" partner, and that the activities of Due diligence. I therefore understand that they have considered passing the public tender for the transfer of shares from the public to the private shareholder (from the Cagliari Chamber of Commerce to F2i), something which», Moro points out, «does not represent a evaluation shared with the regional administration, nor a will of the Region".
