Nico Piras was killed with a shotgun fired from close range. This is the result of the autopsy carried out today in Nuoro by the medical examiner Matteo Nioi on the body of the forty-two-year-old from Lula , who was hit in the abdomen in the night between Sunday and Monday, at the end of the celebrations for Cortes Apertas, and died after 36 hours of agony San Francesco hospital.

The shot (and therefore not two gunshots as initially reconstructed) seriously damaged the internal abdominal organs, creating fatal wounds.

A nephew of the victim, Antonello Piras, 21 years old, who turned himself in today after being unavailable for four days, is accused of the crime : he is the son of Angelo Maria Piras, brother of the last victim, killed in January 2015.

A murder for which the trial is underway in Cagliari against Nico Piras himself and his wife Alice Flore. The young man confessed to the murder, saying he had been provoked by his uncle.

«I was drinking at the kiosk», he told the police, «Nico Piras provoked and mocked me. I walked away and went to another kiosk, but he followed me, showing me a gun and telling me that he would make me end up like my father. There I lost my mind, I took out my rifle and fired."

Nico Piras' funeral will be celebrated tomorrow at 4pm, in the church of Santa Maria Assunta, in Lula.
