Fire Sunday: Large fire in Pabillonis, flames also in Torre dei Corsari

It was a difficult first Sunday of October for the firefighting front in Sardinia. Several blazes broke out in the afternoon, requiring aerial intervention: helicopters, as well as two Canadair aircraft.

At the request of the Forestry Corps' firefighting operations manager, two aircraft from the national fleet responded to a large fire that had broken out in the countryside of Pabillonis, near Guspini, in the C. Espis area. Two helicopters from the regional fleet and one from the Army were also on site.

Torre dei Corsari is also on alert, where flames, driven by strong sirocco winds, have started close to the coast. Emergency services are also underway in Calasetta, where yesterday's fire has restarted.
