The movement of livestock blocked since the beginning of November due to outbreaks of deer disease (Ehdv) resumes in Northern Sardinia.

The indications of the technical table with the Minister of Health and the National Reference Center for exotic diseases of Teramo, beyond 150 kilometers from the outbreaks (which have been registered in the Arbus area) the movements will be able to resume freely .

However, restrictions remain in other parts of the island. In the range between 50 and 150 kilometers from the outbreaks, from 1 to 15 December the animals can only be moved after negative PCR tests .

«An initial piece of good news for the sector thanks to the optimal management of an emergency that has reached Europe for the first time from Africa. In particular, free handling from Gallura will be able to restart, where today most of the animals destined for fattening outside the island insist," says the president of the Region, Christian Solinas.

«From the middle of the month – explains the councilor of Health Carlo Doria – if there is no further evidence of the virus, the checks for the areas in the range between 50 and 150 kilometers will only be random . This will limit the inconvenience for farmers and will allow the restrictions to be restricted to the outbreak areas only".

«Excellent news for the 7,800 beef cattle farmers who could not sell their calves», exults the president of Coldiretti Sardegna Battista Cualbu, who asks the Region «for a collective pcr which, in addition to lowering the costs for the test, makes the handling ».
