Years-long news promises to become a reality: work on the new roundabout on the former 131 will begin in September . The roundabout will be built at the intersection connecting Via Piscina Matzeu with the former state road 131, opposite Pintoreddu . It's a crucial hub for access to numerous businesses such as Il Ghiottone, Kenzhou, and Tecnomat, as well as the main route to the La Corte del Sole shopping center . A traffic black spot, the scene of dozens of accidents and endless traffic jams , it will soon be completely transformed.

The project is part of the overall modernization and safety plan for the former State Road 131, which has seen a veritable commercial boom over the years. "This is a long-awaited project," explains Deputy Mayor Massimiliano Bullita, "which will finally provide a solution to an intersection used by thousands of vehicles every day. Numerous accidents have occurred here, and now we're finally making the area safe."

Sestu Mayor Paola Secci is enthusiastic , emphasizing the strategic importance of the funding: "This is extremely important news. The project is supported by the same 2017 FSC funds that already allowed us to redevelop the former 131 road from the Cortexandra roundabout to Corte del Sole. This is another step towards restoring safety and decorum to a thoroughfare that has become the beating heart of the area's commercial development ."

The roundabout will also be "green": "Once completed," he adds, "it will not only be safer for cars and trucks, but also passable on foot and by bicycle thanks to the wide cycle/pedestrian sidewalks . It's one of the interventions in the overall modernization plan for the former 131, which has now become a major commercial artery."

The work won't end here, as emphasized by Public Works Councilor Emanuele Meloni : "This project adds an important piece to the work accomplished so far, but it's not enough. Additional resources are needed to complete the final stretch of the road leading to Sestu . The goal is not only to ensure greater safety, but also to improve traffic flow into the town, which is often congested at certain times of the year."

Anticipation is also high among businesses. Ninni Soro, of the Atzeni Maria Teresa group and owner of the "Il Ghiottone" restaurant , speaks on behalf of many: "We are delighted with this new step. Every day, hundreds of cars pass through Bricoman and other businesses: we are like a drop in a jug of water. It was a need felt by everyone, long awaited. It is a benefit for the community, which will finally avoid accidents and long queues towards Cagliari ."

The new roundabout, therefore, will not only be a traffic improvement: it will be a turning point for road safety, for the livability of its residents, and for the economic growth of an area that has long been crying out for a concrete solution . This project will directly affect thousands of motorists, commuters, and families who travel this route every day to go to work, school, or to shop at the many local businesses.
