A baby not even two months old, in imminent danger of life, was urgently transferred from Alghero to Rome aboard a G-650 aircraft from the 31st Wing at Ciampino.

This is the second rescue operation from Sardinia, following yesterday's, when the same aircraft transported a 12-day-old baby from Cagliari to Milan.

Today's operation allowed the little boy, hospitalized at the AOU Sassari, to quickly reach the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, where he received the specialized care he needed.

The flight, the Italian Air Force emphasizes, was activated, as per standard practice, by the Situation Room of the Air Squadron Command in Milan, following a request from the Prefecture of Sassari. Departing from Ciampino, home of the 31st Wing, the G-650 flew to Alghero Airport, where it picked up the child, accompanied by his parents and a medical team for in-flight assistance. It then took off immediately for Rome.

Once they arrived at Ciampino Airport, the child was handed over to the medical staff who were waiting in the ambulance for his subsequent hospitalization.
