"I'll slit your throat," "you'll end up like Yara," "I'll disfigure you with acid," "My name is Filippo Turetta, I rape women for a living ." All of this was broadcast live on Instagram, despite her warning: "I'm recording it, I need it for my complaint."
The victim of a long series of insults and threats is Martina Murenu, an influencer from Cagliari with 105,000 followers on Instagram. On August 18, the creator was attacked during a live broadcast by two male voices, who barged into her stream using nicknames and hiding their faces .
"I want the parents of these children," the young woman writes, "to recognize the voices of what they brought into the world. Their hypothetical girlfriends to realize who they have by their side. And now a huge complaint will be filed. May everyone recognize from your voices who you are and never consider you again. We can no longer remain silent. Enough."
"I feel compelled to protect myself, to raise a huge fuss, to make a social statement for all those like me who have remained silent for years and can no longer stand it, " the young woman continues in a video posted in response to those who accused her of sharing the threats she received for publicity. "After my video," she emphasizes, "many people have found the courage to report so many very serious incidents. This is the goal, to no longer be afraid of anyone."
The character
A victim of bullying since childhood, Martina Murenu's life changed when she recorded a video and posted it on Facebook, garnering a huge number of views and enormous success. Her visibility grew with each post, and she was even called to schools to speak about marginalization and bullying.
As time went by, her content became more humorous and appealed to an increasingly wider audience. She then moved to the US for a while, before returning to Sardinia. In the US, she says, she was the victim of a sexual assault for which justice was never brought.
