2023 is coming to an end and, as always happens, it is time to take stock. Negative, that of the secretary of the CGIL Sardinia Fausto Durante : «It inevitably intersects with that of a finite legislature and, unfortunately, characterized by inconclusive political action, which has worsened the economic and social conditions of the island ».

Durante "dismisses" the actions of the current council, and hopes for a change of pace from the coming year: «To start again», he maintains, « from 2024 it will be essential to govern with a different attitude , with a vision that takes into account the delays accumulated and the necessary impulse to transform the changes underway into opportunities".

Above all, healthcare, transport and industry end up in the CGIL's sights: «One of the characteristics of this regional government», adds the secretary, «was also the absence of discussion with the social partners , the unavailability to listen and to deal with the numerous open disputes, except on sporadic and pointless occasions".

The acronym underlines the most dramatic data on the Island, from that of mortality to that of relative poverty, through renunciations of treatment, life expectancy (with the myth of the Island of centenarians shattered), and the job market. Not only that: the CGIL points the finger at the laws challenged by the Constitutional Court, but also at the failure to spend resources, the continuous postponements to provisional budget exercises, the delays in programming the funds available and the absence of guidelines on matters strategic ones such as energy, productive sectors, education and training.

«Our contribution is there and will continue to be there», Durante concludes, «even in this phase which sees Sardinia grappling with an electoral campaign unfortunately still marked by internal contradictions within the coalitions in the field . The climate and consistency of the current political debate cannot help but arouse concern because, given the picture just described, one would expect more concreteness, more clarity on the things to do, more respect for an island in trouble that is only waiting for a good government to restart".
