The stage of the Tharros theater is no longer under lockdown and is preparing to host Johnny Marr's concert today, Tuesday, July 21, at 9:00 PM. The artist will be performing at the Tharros theater in Cabras, for one of the most anticipated events in the "Giants of Art" series, promoted by the Fondazione Mont'e Prama as part of the Mont'e Prama Summer 2026 program. A guitarist, songwriter, and composer, Marr is one of the most influential figures to emerge from the British music scene of the 1980s.
A co-founder of The Smiths, he and Morrissey helped define the band's sonic identity through an instantly recognizable guitar style: melodic, brilliant, and layered, far removed from the dominant rock styles of the time. The Tharros concert will offer audiences the opportunity to experience live an artist who transformed the guitar into a true narrative voice. Marr's repertoire now brings together his solo work with the songs that made The Smiths' music immortal, capturing all the energy and expressive power of a career spanning over forty years.
The musician will be hosted by the Tharros Theater, an open-air stage where contemporary music meets the landscape, the sea, and the ancient remains of the ancient city. This dialogue between archaeology and live performance is one of the distinctive elements of the "Giants of Art" festival and the entire Mont'e Prama Summer program. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Region, and the Municipality of Cabras, in collaboration with Dromos Festival and with the support of the Association of Local Authorities for Cultural and Entertainment Activities, the Gal Sinis, and the Penisola del Sinis Cooperative Society.
