The alarm for gas leaks in Monserrato continues, the distribution company intervened during the night alerted by the Local Police and Fire Brigade: a valve must be replaced.

The fear was still strong throughout the city after the blaze that a few days ago burned a boy in an attic in via del Redentore, an accident caused by a leak of gas that spread from the subsoil to the bathroom of the house occupied by the young. Thus, since yesterday morning, there had been numerous calls from worried citizens to the local police operations center to report the strong smell of gas. Immediate checks were carried out by the brigade patrols who, coordinated by commander Massimiliano Zurru, patrolled the area. Once the real presence of the strong odor was ascertained, the real emergency was triggered with the immediate communication to the command of the Fire Brigade, who intervened on the spot with a team, and to the company that manages the distribution in the city while the Local Police vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the whole street is prohibited.

The mayor Tomaso Locci was also on site: "We are in Via Caracalla to follow the verification intervention of the Fire Brigade and specialized companies. The gas leak should have been identified and is being restored. We await the conclusion of the inspections and of the works ", wrote the mayor on social media. The works lasted all night and the road was reopened at the first light of dawn: "It was a loss that affected a pipeline that passes under the road surface of via Porto Botte", explained the commander of the Local Police Massimiliano Zurru, "we banned traffic for safety reasons as soon as we became aware of the actual characteristic smell of the gas, and until the emergency ceased. Reopening which was allowed in the early morning, as soon as they were completed the work of the technicians, and which allowed us not to block further a very important junction for the city traffic ”.

However, the alarm remains great in the city, still shaken by what occurred just a week ago in via del Redentore, which has found itself managing a new emergency linked to gas leaks
