"I cut chorizo with it." This is how the man arrested by the Carabinieri this morning in Porto Torres, while driving his car and about to embark, explained his possession of a 32-cm knife with a 20-cm blade.

The 57-year-old Spaniard, also found in possession of two other switchblades, testified during today's sentencing hearing in Sassari that the kitchen knife was used specifically to cut the famous Spanish and Portuguese sausage, which he presumably also brought with him during his stay in Sardinia.

Judge Silvia Masala, represented by Elisa Succu, confirmed the man's arrest but did not order any further measures.
