Thirty-year sentence for Antonino Demelas, the former cook from Mogorella accused of sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl. The sentence was issued this morning by the Court of Oristano, which thus accepted the request of prosecutors Armando Mammone and Andrea Chelo.

The defendant was not in court this morning, he is in prison where he is serving a 14-year sentence for robbery. The investigation into the murder of his partner Marina Castangia , the hairdresser from Cabras who vanished into thin air in May three years ago, is also still open.

During the closing speech, the prosecutors recalled that during the investigation, overwhelming evidence emerged that removed any doubt about what happened. A passage also confirmed by the civil party lawyer Davide Piasotti. Among other elements, there is the confirmation of the DNA test on the biological traces found in the places where, according to the environmental interceptions, the 72-year-old was secluded with the child. And then the victim's story and an unequivocal gynecological examination.

The prosecutors Mammone and Chelo had requested the maximum sentence for such a crime, while the defense attorney Libero Pusceddu had requested an expert opinion to prove Demelas' inability to have sexual relations. The request has already been rejected by the panel (president Serena Corrias, alongside Cristiana Argiolas and Gabriele Bordiga) who this morning pronounced a sentence of 30 years. The filing of the reasons within 90 days.
