Seven hundred kilos of waste were removed last Sunday in Sassari by 18 volunteers from Plastic Free Onlus.

The overall "harvest" includes tires, car batteries, glass, plastic, syringes, and materials of all kinds, collected between Via Bellini, in the area of the Agricultural School, Via Pirandello, and the Via Solari parking lot.

Specifically, the operation seized six tires, two car rims, six hubcaps, plastic pipes, four car batteries, two plastic bins, and a heater.

To these figures were added 30 bags of unsorted waste, 18 bags of glass bottles, six of plastic and cans and three of paper, as well as around 30 syringes and countless cigarette butts.

The day was coordinated by Plastic Free representatives Roberto Manca, Serena Solinas, and Maria Grazia Pisanu, along with other volunteers working in the various affected areas. The waste, disposed of at the recycling center on Via Pirandello, was picked up by Ambiente Italia, the service provider for the Municipality of Sassari.

The cleaning operation has once again highlighted the critical nature of waste abandonment and Plastic Free representatives have already announced a new inspection, in order to evaluate the situation and plan further intervention.
