Maria Grazia Sanna Cabras and Brazilian Tiago Geissler Queiroz were also placed under house arrest. They are accused of embezzling approximately €2 million, from 2020 to 2024, intended for the protection of the island's coastal heritage.
The investigation began with a complaint from the new director. The investigation revealed the misuse of public funds through grants to 13 nonprofit organizations for projects and conferences that never materialized.
Mayor Massimo Zedda announced: "The conference approved the deal, and the next steps will be swift after the club's financial plan." Estimated cost: €187 million (plus VAT), with documents expected by the end of the year.
