Weapons, ammunition, hand grenades and explosive material were seized in Ortueri following a series of searches. A local farmer was arrested.

The blitz was carried out by the carabinieri of the Tonara Company, with personnel from the Abbasanta Helicopter Hunters Squadron, at the first light of dawn last Saturday but only now has there been news.

Inside the 65-year-old's farm , two small caliber pistols were found, one of which was in a poor state of preservation with an illegible serial number, and one, of Belgian manufacture, with a modified barrel in order to increase its offensiveness, a blanks, 3 "SRCM" model hand grenades in use by the national Armed Forces and a large number of ammunition of various calibers.

There was also various explosive material for a total of 800 grams consisting of 4 sticks of dynamite and 4 pieces of quarry gelatine , all hidden both inside some rural buildings on the farmer's property - such as the pigsty - and in a segment of a plastic tube, closed at the ends with corks, inserted inside the drywall that delimits the property. One of the hand grenades was hidden in a piece of clothing placed under a pile of stones a few meters from the buildings.

The bomb squad from the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Nuoro intervened on site and, having identified a suitable area, detonated the bombs and explosives.

The breeder was taken to the Oristano prison to await validation of the arrest.

One of the seized weapons will be sent to the Scientific Investigations Department of Cagliari to trace its serial number and establish its origin.
