Christmas Village in the red zone. The Christmas market stalls are returning to Piazza del Carmine. "The administration's desire is to ensure that all those who have been away for one reason or another can return to the historic center. And that's why, alongside the traditional stalls in Piazza Yenne and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, we will create a Christmas Village in Piazza del Carmine."
Councilor for Economic Development and Productive Sectors Carlo Serra has no doubts. In previewing the tenth edition of Christmas activities today in the Sala Retablo of City Hall, he emphasized the quality of Piazza del Carmine's offerings, ready to showcase its full beauty. "It is slowly returning to optimal safety, and we are placing great emphasis on the value this place has in hosting so many different types of activities."
Starting (again) with Christmas-related initiatives, with a month of entertainment and commercial offers as well as food and drink service.
The calendar of events will be released in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, the administration has moved well in advance to define the locations where the main Christmas events will be concentrated.
With an “enhanced” offering compared to previous editions, the city center will come alive with the colors of Christmas starting from December 1st and until the day of the Epiphany with 40 stalls positioned between Piazza Yenne and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, another 40 on one side of Piazza del Carmine , flanked, on the other side, by an ice rink, a play area and a space for the provision of food and refreshments.
The organization will be handled by the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Piazza Yenne Natural Shopping Center, which has been awarded the three-year contract (until 2028) . But two other key players in the festive scene have not been left out. Both CTM SpA and the Fair Authority will do their part to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy the scheduled events.
The transport company will operate Christmas shuttles, funded by the Municipality of Cagliari and therefore free of charge for users. They will run a circular route starting and ending in Piazza Yenne, crossing the city to the San Benedetto neighborhood, transporting all interested visitors to the city center. Two six-meter vehicles will run back and forth every 20 minutes (from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm on market days). And until Epiphany, the Fair will also be a charming stop with the 44th edition of the Fiera Natale . This will no longer be just a Christmas market but, thanks to funding from the Region, will become a place for promoting the local area, designed for families. Admission and all activities will be free.
