Three million euros to reduce waiting times for cataract surgeries, colonoscopies, and gastroscopy. The regional council has preliminarily approved the measure allocating new resources for the purchase of additional services in accredited private facilities, to be provided in the two-year period 2026-2027.
A targeted intervention to reduce waiting times for the most critical services , recovering backlogged bookings and increasing healthcare provision in areas where access to care is most difficult.
The resources will be distributed among the eight local health authorities (ASL) according to the weighted population criterion, which also takes into account the elderly population in terms of healthcare needs: approximately 1.23 million euros for the Cagliari ASL , 599 thousand euros for Sassari, 296 thousand for Oristano, 289 thousand for Gallura, 275 thousand for Nuoro, 236 thousand for Sulcis, 178 thousand for Medio Campidano and 103 thousand for Ogliastra.
Within ten days of the resolution, the local health authorities must notify Ares of the number of patients waiting beyond the established deadlines . Based on the identified needs, Ares will publish a notice addressed to accredited private facilities with existing contracts, with which additional agreements will be stipulated in addition to the standard ones.
The funded services will be entered into specific diaries of the Single Booking Center (CUP), allowing healthcare companies to identify patients waiting and direct them to new availability . Company waiting list managers will monitor the waiting list monthly to verify the effective reduction in backlogs.
The three million euros are in addition to the resources already allocated to regular contracts with accredited facilities and are part of regional efforts to reduce waiting lists. The decision comes the day after Agenas rejected the Region's waiting list policies .
