The Region is supporting agricultural businesses struggling with rising fuel costs. Today, the Todde government approved a resolution establishing a subsidy to offset the increased costs incurred by Sardinian companies for the purchase of agricultural diesel fuel between June and December 2026. This measure is made possible by the €25 million allocation provided in the budget amendment approved by the Regional Council on August 12, " well ahead of similar measures adopted in Italy ," the Region explains.

"We are the region that led the way and we are the one that has allocated the largest amount to address the high cost of fuel: the significant funding introduced in the budget adjustment now allows us to immediately deploy significant resources," emphasizes Agriculture Councilor Francesco Agus . The resolution provides for a contribution of 30 cents per liter of eligible agricultural fuel, for the period from June 1st to December 31st, in compliance with the rules for cumulation with national aid. "The mechanism," explains Agus, "was designed to be particularly simple and allow for rapid disbursement." The Region will use UMA ( Agricultural Motor Users ) allocations, i.e., the quantities of subsidized agricultural fuel assigned to each farm, data already in the administration's possession through the Laore agency. This will allow for pre-filled applications, minimizing the burden on farmers and speeding up the granting and disbursement procedures.

The procedure will be managed by the Laore Agency through a call for tenders, rather than through a subsidy at the pump. This allows for the subsidy to be paid from June to December, thus retroactively including the fuel already consumed by companies. The first part of the year, however, is already covered by the subsidy provided by the government. The two subsidies, national and regional, thus effectively bring the cost of agricultural fuel below one euro .
