Second meeting of the permanent table dedicated to the iron bridge between Villaputzu and Muravera, on the Flumendosa, closed from 8 December 2023 for urgent safety works . The meeting, called by Councilor Antonio Piu and held at the Department of Labor, was attended by, in addition to the municipality of Villaputzu, the Province of South Sardinia and the technicians in charge of designing the works, Anas and the Civil Engineering Department. The next steps for the viability of the area were discussed: «We focused on two fronts», explains Councilor Piu. «The works on the iron bridge and the creation of a direct connection on the new state road 125. On the works front, we have changed the timing for the presentation of a variant report that will allow the works to be extended and will allow the addition of some urgent and functional interventions for the structural strengthening of the bridge».

The need had emerged from the last table and the funds, about 800,000 euros resulting from a remodulation, are already available. The related planning will have to be concluded in the next few weeks. «As regards the connection with the new 125», Piu continues, «the meeting was useful for a further discussion with Anas and for sharing the methods of collaboration between the various interested bodies with the sole objective of arriving as soon as possible at the planning of the new access to the state road ».

The mayor of Villaputzu Sandro Porcu highlighted the discomfort experienced by the citizens, aggravated in recent weeks by the closure of the tunnel on the state road and by the rains that are forcing the closure of the raised ford on the Flumendosa . « I am satisfied with the change of pace that all the bodies are demonstrating in wanting to resolve the traffic problems and the state of the works on the bridge », said the mayor Sandro Porcu. «The Province is activating all the necessary tools to reach the conclusion of the entire process as soon as possible», explains the sole administrator Eugenio Lai.

Regarding the raised ford, following the assignment and funding of the Region, the works for its maintenance have been entrusted and, when the water levels of the Flumendosa allow it, the passage will be restored. Councilor Piu, highlighting the need for coordination between all interested parties for the fastest possible resolution of the problem, has called the next meeting of the table to be held on March 5 .

The objectives for the next month include the definition of the design of the variant appraisal relating to the work on the bridge, the immediate resumption of work at a faster pace and with the use of more workers and vehicles, the assignment of the design task for the alternative access on the new 125 in the Sant'Angelo area with the relative assessments for the transformation into a permanent junction.
