Four thousand seven hundred accident reports were filed in the first seven months of the year, 200 more than in 2025. Workplace safety is a well-established issue that must be addressed. The Observatory for Quality, Health, and Safety in the Workplace in Sardinia, established last June, was presented this morning at the Regional Presidential Tower.
" The Observatory's primary task is to plan resources and translate actions into security objectives. A careful analysis of the phenomenon will be necessary, starting with the data ," says Observatory President Mario Arca.
Regional President Alessandra Todde , Labor Councilor Desirè Manca , and trade union representatives were present. "By monitoring the data with all stakeholders, we want to understand what's happening and try to restore workers' confidence," Todde explained. " We want to be the Region that values safety, not just in words : the approach doesn't begin on the construction site or in the workplace, but by internalizing the fact that working under certain conditions is impossible."
Also planned are measures to raise awareness in schools and support for businesses to improve safety. "One of these will involve supporting businesses to purchase safety tools and equipment, as well as allowing workers to attend safety courses," adds Manca.
On the table are 15 million euros spread until 2028, allocated since the approval of the Buggerru Pact in 2024. "Finally the resources have been put in place to intervene," says the general secretary of Uil Sardegna Fulvia Murru. "We have made our offices and patronages available to have a concrete impact and reduce news reports on work."
"Our goal is to highlight safety," says Nicola Cabras, a representative of the CGIL . "Results can't be achieved overnight, but the Observatory aims to improve the situation."
Pierluigi Ledda, general secretary of the CISL Sardinia , agrees: "We need a strong season in which accident prevention becomes a distinguishing feature. It can become an important system that sets us apart from other Italian and European organizations."
