A young life cut short in a matter of minutes. At that dreadful intersection on State Road 130, Maurizio Porcu—just 19 years old—crossed on foot in the dark, without considering the risks . The ending was tragic: the boy was hit by a car, dying almost instantly at the roundabout leading from Decimomannu to San Sperate.
The boy had arrived on the highway by public transport and was crossing the street to visit a friend. Then came the fatal impact with a moving car, the arrival of emergency services, and the desperate attempts to revive the boy, who ultimately died.
The family was shocked: father Gianpaolo, mother Angela, the four sisters born from successive relationships of the parents, the uncles and cousins with whom the boy grew up in his grandparents' house in via Puccini.
A touching tribute from the Selargius Comprehensive Institute , where Maurizio studied before attending the Scano Institute in Monserrato: "With a heavy heart, our school community mourns the tragic and untimely passing of Maurizio, our dear former student. The memories of the years we spent together, the light of his smile, and the beauty of the journey he shared with us remain alive in our hallways and in our hearts . Losing him so soon leaves an immeasurable void in all of us who knew him and loved him."
The headmaster of ICT 1 in Selargius, the teachers, staff, and students—as the condolence post continues—"join in a deeply moving embrace his parents, his loved ones, and all his friends overwhelmed by this enormous grief. Goodbye, Maurizio. You live and will always live in our memories ."
Mayor Gigi Concu also expressed his condolences on social media: "There are no adequate words; there are no right words, capable of bringing comfort to those who today mourn our fellow citizen Maurizio Porcu, whose life ended on the 130, at just nineteen years old, on a seemingly ordinary evening. This tragic outcome leaves us all a little more alone and saddened, and our community mourns and is deeply saddened by yet another road tragedy. On behalf of myself and the entire city administration, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and acquaintances, and my most sincere sympathy in this moment of profound grief."
