A swift and effective raid led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man late yesterday afternoon in the center of Cagliari. The man was caught red-handed by Carabinieri officers from the Mobile Radio Unit on charges of aggravated theft from the historic " La Rinascente " store on Via Roma.
The alarm was raised around 6:00 PM when security personnel noticed the 47-year-old's suspicious movements. After stealing several items of clothing worth approximately €700 , the man attempted to quickly flee the store. The escape was reported to 112, and officers quickly arrived on the scene, intercepting and detaining the suspect in the immediate vicinity of the entrance.
The subsequent personal search revealed the man's modus operandi: several burglary tools were found in his possession, which he had used just minutes earlier to skillfully cut and remove the anti-theft tags from the merchandise. The entire stolen goods were recovered by the Carabinieri and returned directly to the store's management.
