The three fishermen from Sorso who were extradited to France on 14 September following a European arrest warrant have returned free.

The three, accused of having violated the natural marine reserve of the Strait of Bonifacio on 2 July 2020 by opposing the French authorities, appeared this evening before the judge in Ajaccio: after having exposed their version of the facts, they were released and will return in Sardinia with the first ferry.

A fourth fisherman who was later identified is still under arrest in Paris today and will also appear before the court judge in Corsica on Monday.

Now the French judicial authorities will start a new phase of investigations that could bring the fishermen of Sorso to trial, but not before a year.
