The case of the teacher of San Vero Milis who was suspended for having recited an Ave Maria and then made a rosary for her little pupils arrives in Parliament ( HERE THE NEWS ).
To deal with it, with an urgent question to the Minister of Education, is the deputy of the Brothers of Italy Francesco Mura: "I consider absurd and aberrant the decision, taken by the manager and by the regional school office, to inflict a punishment on a teacher for the mere fact of having recited a prayer in class with one's pupils», declares the parliamentarian.
What devastating message, one wonders, «what unforgivable disvalue, or worse, what incurable trauma can a child suffer from reciting a prayer, whatever the religion of reference? The message, which comes out of this senseless action of censorship, as well as being profoundly wrong in its assumptions, is very dangerous for the consequences that could derive from it".
For Mura "if the fear is that the word of God could negatively affect the growth and development of our children, this could also apply to the study of the thoughts of characters such as Gramsci or D'Annunzio or anyone else who has contributed to the growth intellectual of Western civilization and therefore of our nation. Italy is a secular country whose democratic history cannot ignore its Catholic roots".
The deputy of Forza Italia, Ugo Cappellacci, is also controversial: "The suspension of the teacher for a prayer is a serious case of secular fundamentalism", he declares, also announcing a question. «The episodes are multiplying», observes Cappellacci, «which give the sensation of a school seen almost as a branch of the party sections, a place dominated by ideology. For consistency", concluded Cappellacci, "we invite the authors of this singular provision to give up the Easter holidays".
