Two more rescues took place today in the Oristano area, following yesterday's one in Porto Alabe , which involved Sassari Brigade soldier Massimo Deligia.
This morning, fear struck in San Giovanni di Sinis, Cabras, in the stretch of beach without a lifeguard station, where the Vento Maestro restaurant is located. A man and his two children, who dived in despite the red flag, found themselves in obvious difficulty, at the mercy of the waves.
Some swimmers, including Oristano City Council President Peppino Puddu, dived in and managed to bring them back to shore. Others tried to contact a lifeguard who wasn't in that stretch of water but much further ahead. Given the distance from the scene of the emergency, the man called the Coast Guard for assistance.
There was also an emergency in Arborea, between Beach 26 and Beach 27, where a man was taken ill while on the shore. Lifeguards responded to the scene with their defibrillators, but ultimately it wasn't necessary as the man recovered shortly afterward. Emergency personnel also arrived on the scene.
