The Forestry Corps is continuing its investigation to determine the cause of the fire that devastated about thirty hectares of land in the Muravera countryside yesterday, threatening several homes.
The investigation began with questioning, seeking witnesses, and on-site inspections to identify any possible triggers that may have caused the fire.
The flames broke out yesterday in the area of "Casa Uselli", then spread to S'Acqua Seccis and Su Zippiri, with several residential settlements immediately placed under observation by the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps of Villaputzu, coordinated by Senior Inspector Mauro Pisu.
All of this was done in collaboration with the firefighters who arrived from the nearby San Vito base, with several men and equipment. Mayor Francesca Mattana, head of Civil Protection, was also present. Arson has not been ruled out.
"It was a painful day for our community: a deep wound for all of us," said Mayor Mattana, who expressed "gratitude to those who gave their all with professionalism and courage, also asking that full clarity be shed on the causes of the fire. Their commitment and professionalism certainly helped contain the flames.
