A child mauled by two Amstaffs in a village in Alta Gallura risked irreversible eye damage . This incident emerged 48 hours after the serious incident. The Olbia Local Health Authority and the local police in the town where the incident occurred are working to secure the animals (who were not allowed outside a building).

The very young victim, aged 9 , underwent a specialist examination, and fortunately, doctors confirmed that the bite from one of the dogs, despite the depth of the laceration, did not irreversibly affect the eye. The child is in good condition, and the other injuries noted by doctors did not affect vital organs .

An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The Olbia Local Health Authority is securing the animals for quarantine. The two Amstaffs have been roaming the streets on other occasions, and there have been several reports from concerned residents . The investigation (conducted by the Carabinieri of the Tempio Pausania) concerns the alleged failure to properly guard them (administrative violation) and the very serious injuries.
