Sennori, "Feminos": Community theater in the former tuff quarry.

All is ready for the theatrical performance "Feminos – What is lost, what remains, what is transformed" by the cultural association Il Lentischio in Sennori, scheduled for Saturday, September 5th, from 9:00 PM at the former Cava di Tufo. This community theater performance originated in Sennori and has grown through ten years of research, experimentation, and collaborative work. The project began in 2016, inspired by a dialogue from Federico García Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba and the discovery of the Sardinian Logudorese translation by the renowned linguist Antoninu Rubattu. From that initial encounter, an original rewriting of Lentischio was developed in Sennorese, a variant of Logudorese. This language carries its own unique characteristics, including the unique construction of the feminine plural, which is not inflected. Rubattu's translation thus became the starting point for a process of rewriting and transformation that transcended the original text and gave rise to an independent dramaturgy rooted in the language, culture, and identity of the country. After a few performances, the show was shelved to make room for new experiences. Over the next ten years, the group grew, changed, and developed its own theatrical language, until it felt the need to revive the old work. The script remained, but the performers changed, and with them, new characters and new possibilities for telling the story emerged. Today, Il Lentischio features 16 performers—14 women and 2 men—on stage with Antonietta Brau, Mario Pino Camboni, Maria Giovanna Delogu, Maria Antonietta De Palmas, Giannina Fois, Antonella Leoni, Isabella Manunta, Giannina Nieddu, Angela Pazzola, Ersilia Pazzola, Gian Mario Pazzola, Maria Antonietta Pazzola, Maria Franca Pazzola, Maria Grazia Soliveras, Tonina Tilocca, and Antonietta Tonzanu. The Sennorese language remains central to the performance, accompanied by a section in Italian that allows even those unfamiliar with Sardinian to follow the story and appreciate its sound and rhythm. The Ex Cava di Tufo hosts this new production, conceived as a contemporary, open-air, and site-specific show, where the location becomes part of the experience. The theatrical direction and original dramaturgy are by Maria Paola Cordella, translation and linguistic consultancy are by Angela Pazzola, directorial assistant and choreographic finishing are by Denise Campus, and technical direction is by Sandalia Eventi e Animazioni. The project is part of the research of AnonimArtijana, a non-profit organization that focuses on culture, local areas, and communities, promoting inclusive approaches, the fusion of languages, and the transformation of places through the arts and collective narratives.
