Prosecutor Elisa Succu of the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office will handle the case of Danir, the Moldovan boy who died after feeling ill in a car in Olmedo a week ago.

The 4-year-old boy, on holiday with his parents in a house in the countryside, apparently escaped the attention of his father and mother, who were perhaps sleeping, last Wednesday to get into the family car.

Under the intense afternoon sun, and in a car already scorching from the heat, the child felt ill and when he was found he was no longer responding to stimuli.

He was taken to the intensive care unit in Sassari where he remained until Sunday 10 August when his parents had him transferred to the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome and to the pediatric therapy department .

Unfortunately, Danir's critical condition prevented doctors from saving him, and he died the following morning. It is currently unknown whether the parents are under investigation for failing to supervise their son.
