The Carabinieri of the Olbia territorial unit, led by Lieutenant Colonel Nicola Pilia, along with the Carabinieri divers, have been working since this morning to find the weapon used on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 27, to kill Pietro Sciusco, the 42-year-old from Puglia who died in hospital in Olbia from injuries sustained during an attack on the sidewalk of Corso Umberto, in the city center.
The military are searching the seabed of the gulf in front of the Olbia seafront promenade, where they suspect the murder weapon may have been thrown.
This morning, Mohamed Abdou Elchodary, the twenty-year-old Egyptian national arrested after less than 24 hours of manhunt and the main suspect in the murder, will be questioned in court in Tempio Pausania by preliminary investigations judge Federica Di Stefano.
Elchodary was found by the Carabinieri inside an uninhabited house undergoing renovation on Via Genova, not far from the scene of the murder. The young man is already known to law enforcement for several violent incidents in the city center: the latest occurred just over a week ago, when the 20-year-old was arrested and identified as one of the three perpetrators of the attack on a security guard assigned to guard the film set of "Grown Ups 3," filmed in Piazza Matteotti in Olbia.
Elchodary then threw glass bottles and stones at the guard, before fleeing.
